In “Department of Psychiatry & Behavioural Sciences, DHQ Hospital, Faisalabad” World Mental Health Day was celebrated on 9th october 2020 under the kind supervision of Professor Dr Imtiaz Ahmad Dogar, Head of Department of Psychiatry & Behavioural Sciences, Elected President of Pakistan Psychiatry Society and Pro Vice Chanceller of the Faisalabad Medical University (FMU , PMC).An awareness Walk was organised in which Dr Asif Hameed Saleemi Medical Suprintendent DHQ Hospital Faisalabad along with health professionals from other departments including medicine, surgery, pediatrics, psychiatry and clinical psychologists. This year theme was “MENTAL HEALTH FOR ALL, GREATER INVESTMENT AND GREATER ACCESS”.

In the walk different slogans regarding promotion of mental health was displayed by doctors, psychology interns and trainees. Whereas HOD Prof Dr Imtiaz (Elected President Pakistan Psychiatric Society) highlighted mental health issues in children and focused upon the services in the field of child psychology. In the walk Assisstant Professor of Deptt of Psychiatry Dr Irum Siddique and Senior Psychologist Ms Samreen Afzal also highlighted the importance of mental health for all. At the end cake cutting ceremony was done. Another activity on 10th of oct 2020 was organised in DG Khan Medical College in which Prof Dr Imtiaz (Elected President Pakistan Psychiatric Society) participated as the chief guest in symposium and enlightened the people of south punjab regarding the importance of mental health, facts and figures regarding mental health issues. Dr Shafique HOD DG Khan Medical College focused on how mental health services are improving in the area. He said people to come for services rather than visiting the quacks.
